Life Design

Every student who walks onto a college campus has approximately two million minutes. Two million minutes until graduation. Two million minutes to build one’s intellectual and emotional bases. Two million minutes to prepare for family, community, service and career. Two million minutes to get ready for a good “launch.” Through stories, lectures, assigned readings, guest speakers, and reflective writing, Life Design is organized to help students discover what they are innately drawn to do. Topics include the integration of one’s worldview and professional life, practical skills and exercises for investigating different career paths, cultivating mentors, the relationship between ambition, drive, and success, and the role of happiness in achieving excellence and success. “Life” is a short-term gift. “Design” is creating of a plan to maximize it.

Testimonial: “Over my professional career, I've had the pleasure of working with some remarkable designers. I have never met one more versatile and creative, however, than Talya. Talya not only thoroughly understands the design objective, but brings her own original ideas to every initiative. Given a choice, there is no one I would rather have on my (artistic) side.”

David Gould, Visiting Associate Professor, Public Policy Center at University of Iowa
